Whitby is a rather unusual place because it has changed little through the years and is therefore unspoilt. Most shops are independently owned no two gift shops are alike. The town can be found on the River Esk and it is linked by a swing bridge which opens for larger vessels with the harbour. Whitby is famous for Captain Cook who was simply born here and whose ships were built within the harbour including that Endevour and Resolution.
